Repairs can be done over and over again as long as the upper, lining leather and closing warrants it. It is not uncommon for us to see shoes dating back 20 to 30 years returning to their birthplace…

To contemplate sending your shoes back to us for repair the upper leather has to be in good condition, which should be the case if they have been properly cared for. (See our shoe care guide.)

Please note that we are unable to repair shoes that have been previously repaired at a non-factory certified repair shop.  This is because we cannot assess the method or the components used in these third parties repairs.

Our process involves removing the heels, soles, welt, cork filler and occasionally the insole should this be required.

The shoes are then refitted on their original construction last and remain on these for several days to help regain their original shape.

From then on your pair rejoins the original making and finishing process, where the new welts are sewn in and leveled cork filler applied. Your new soles (veg tanned/oak-bark tanned or rubber) are fitted and stitched to the welt with either open groove or covered channel. Once the new heels are attached they pass through the hands of our edge trimmers and bottom finishers, just as they originally did…Finally having new leather heel socks fitted, they are cleaned and polished ready to be sent back to the store or to you directly.

Although the soles are now new, the upper leather will retain all the luster and patina gained from your many years of care.

In store:

If convenient for you, we encourage you to bring your shoes to our store or a store that carries our products where repair options will be discussed. Should you want to proceed with a repair the store will forward them to us at the factory and once completed we will return them back to that store.

Mailing them directly to the factory:

We recommend you use a tracked and signed service to the address below. Include your contact details as well as your specific repair instructions.  Upon receipt we will assess the work to be done and advise at that time if additional work may be required. Once the work has been completed we will contact you for payment and then return the shoes directly back to you
